Personally, have managed to keep my feet firmly on the floor. Very hard to block out the memory of our dismal effort at Taunton last year (76 all out and 70 all out) to lose by a mamouth 314 runs. Completely outplayed and treated with rather disdain by our "Grockles" neighbours. Makes our recent comprehensive victory even more impressive (with the vast majority of the same team).
At the half way stage (at the end of Day 2), the match was very evenly poised, but left me feeling somewhat nervous at the potential prospect of batting last on the final day. However, in reality, what an absolutely fantastic effort by the bowlers to roll over Somerset in their second innings.
Champagne moment: Guess many would vote for Bobby Bracey reaching his century, or swatting the final boundary to clinch our 8 wicket victory. Alternatively, Matt Taylor's most unlikely but very important career best half century. However, my pick would be for young Dom Goodman on debut, when he removed James Hildreth, who was doing his utmost to hold the Somerset second innings together.
Man of the Match: Total non contest. Continues to enhance his growing reputation......will be a very proud moment for us when he eventually makes his England debut.
Finally, Ryan Higgins continue as being our incredible workhorse with his fantastic stamina. Already, afrer two matches, 13 wickets from 86 overs. Really well supported by David Payne and Matt Taylor, who can fell very proud of their collective bowling efforts.
