Based on recent performance our bowling department is pretty good. So, why sign another bowler. Surely what we need is a top calibre batsman and a keeper/ batsman to replace Roderick. The latter assumes England maintain their interest in Bracey.

Lace is very clearly Roderick's replacement.
This young lad looks handy and looks to specialise in raw pace. As such I suspect he may be a replacement for Jerome Taylor who maybe won't be joining us now.
Over a full season we will need both more options and as much variety as possible.
Payne and Taylor provide left arm options. Higgins and Scott are right arm seamers with Shaw and Charlesworth the same but perhaps a touch more pacy. Whittingham and the new lad will provide the more express pace hopefully. Still no red ball spinner in sight mind.

Whittingham is retiring due to injury.
I hadn't realised that Tom Lace was a wicket keeper as well, but I see from Playfair that he is.

Ah gutted for Whittingham, wouldn't wish an early retirement on any player.
