The county website continues to ignore the second team. The last report was on June 3, several matches ago. That is deplorable. It is always necessary to trawl through other websites to discover what is going on. However, what that does show is that Glos are bottom of the championship's south division with no wins -- two places below MCC Young Cricketers. If more effort were made to promote the second XI there might, occasionally, be more spectators that players and umpires. Additionally no starting times are given for second XI matches, or whether the T20 fixtures are double-headers, which they sometimes are. All in all it shows contempt for supporters and for the experienced pros plus up and coming young players who makes up the teams.

With tongue in cheek I would say they are playing at cheltenham at the present; but t'was a decent day today with Jack T sadly missing out on a well deserved century! The woes of GCCC's web site are well documented; but little is ever done to rectify the situation. The Committee in their infinite wisdom have obviously, mistakenly, made this a very low priority. Until pressure is put on the executive and general committees to recognise the importance of a decent web site full of information; nothing will change. Start writing, emailing, and twittering folks!

Somebody up above is following this Forum. Second team results, but not reports, have now appeared. And, according to the Middlesex website, the second XI fixture at Bristol CC on July 24, is a T20 double-header.

Bob Hunt the 'local sports reporter' [use the term loosely] stated this morning pre start of play vs Worcs that Glos would win comfortably; get the remaining wickets cheaply, pile on the runs and obtain enough points to go third! Later adding that if GCCC were to be promoted they are short of two or three quality players. On that showing it is rather more than two or three!

Who is Bob Hunt? However, back to my original point. This Forum does have some teeth, because the full scorecards for Wednesday's (July 24) T20 double header against Middlesex Seconds can already be tracked down on the Gloucestershire site. Within 36 hours, which is unprecedented! Good for those officials who took up the challenge. Two narrow wins for Gloucestershire with Van Buuren (bat and ball), Cockbain, Willows and Drissell all looking good. The home team had the Scotland international Craig Wallace behind the stumps. The visitors included the former England Test batsman Sam Robson.

.......going back to GCCC's web site - this appears in the report against last nights game;...." Miles Hammond got the Gloucestershire innings off to a flying start hitting 199 off 14 including a big six and another four. Klinger, Bracey and Cockbain added 32 before Higgins stepped to the crease and let loose." . . So how did they lose so badly!
