GCCC obviuosly did not expect such a decent crowd to turn up on the first day of the 'extra' Cheltenham Cricket Festival. This saw many spectators ambling around the ground looking in vain for a seat. Luckily a few more arrived 'post haste' to relieve the problem. Whilst on the negative; too few loo's too! Lovely to see the ground without the surrounding white tents and marquees; a delight and so pleasing. The college has turned its hand to refreshments; excellent in all respects; far better quality than the usual outsourced fare; decent value too. Good to see many of the teams happily give autographs; not so James Anderson who ignored a little group of young autograph hunters; image James, image! As for the cricket, Hammond and Taylor scored well against a tight and quick bowling attack doing a little in the air and off the pitch. A few careless strokes saw good partnerships ended and a total below par. A couple of wickets, excellent run out and Payne's scattering Lehmans stumps gave a little hope; but feel Lancashire are too good and unless we have some luck will outplay our side.
