Really bad news on Liam having to come off with same injury. Did he come back a bit soon, difficult call if he bowled well on his 1 day in the 2nds. But of course this was hot day and Glamorgan were getting dug in so bowling needed some effort. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I get the impression that we are really putting a lot of effort in. Batting we were in a bit of trouble but the middle to lower order did hang on to get up to 236, and if they had not, we would be looking at defeat now. I also get the impression (gutted I couldn't go due to illness) that the bowlers have also put in a lot of effort and hopefully they can Bowl Glamorgan out for 350 or less. The key to this though is batting well in the 2nd innings, if we do that we can save the game. If we don't we lose, its that simple. Doesn't take a genius to work out Well that didn't go to plan as Glamorgan go past 500 and counting going to be difficult from here. Outstanding effort. Lots of if only's.

Terrific rearguard action on day four by the lower order. Somewhat disappointing end to the day however with Glamorgan chasing down the runs with ease. Worrall bowled far too short when defending the chase and was being despatched far too easily as Glamorgan got off to a flyer which released all the pressure. Thought it was rather strange that Dent bowled him through to the end, and he went for nearly eight an over from his seven overs.

Normally, I am quite deflated when we suffer a defeat. However, at the end of Day 3, I rather steeled myself for what I anticipated to be a very heavy defeat. Always hate it when we totally roll over and meekly succumb without fighting to the end. Accordingly, delighted that we put up such a spirited battling effort on the last day, which at one stage looked as if we might even secure a most unlikely draw.
What a mamouth seven and a half marathon from James Bracey........who would of thought that we would be relying on a 20 year old to try and hold our innings together. When we signed Worrall, I did look at his career stats and concluded that he would be vying for a number 11 batting slot. Quite amazing that he achieved a first innings CB, only to immediately surpass this in the second innings.
Personally, not convinced that we have got the right balance to the team. Nonetheless, I fully expect the same line up for our next match away against Sussex (with Miles replacing the injured Norwell). Perhaps a minor tweak to the batting line up, with Ryan Higgins moving up to 6.
Now to return to my "broken record player" theme. I am really struggling with the Bristol wicket dilemma. Four more home games at BS7......with the no toss rule, I can see us inserted on each occasion, facing a track that progressively gets easier as the match progresses. Puts us on the back foot with draws (or defeats) likely. Can't see that we presently have the slow bowlers to winkle teams out on a 4th day Bristol wicket. Perhaps when Mason Crane gets fit (and can't get a look in with Hants) we can somehow entice him on loan!!!
