Happy 2018 all. We've mustered up all of our pre-season enthusiasm and put together part 1 of the Jessop Tavern's season preview. This part is focused on the ever-sketchy batting lineup. Your comments and feedback are welcome as ever. Enjoy.

Great to see you back fellas, I always enjoy your write-ups. I notice the mainstream media are downbeat on Glos' chances just like always - maybe they should take the time to learn who the players are. I'm more optimistic about the batting than most: Roderick and v. Buuren should do better this year, I'm hopeful Hankins will realise his potential, Bracey looks very exciting and Ryan Higgins could prove a fantastic signing. I'm not sold on Benny at 2 but I think Tavare still has plenty to offer.
I agree with you on KNB. His re-signing sums up Glos' stunted ambition. I'm a little surprised Liddle is back for another year (although good to be able to rotate seamers), and I'm ambivalent about Tom Smith - he's a steady white ball bowler but he doesn't have any big shots in his arsenal if we need to up the run-rate in T20 which bothers me.
Long term I am very disappointed (but not surprised) the west is not represented in the new T20 franchise tournament. I hope in time they'll amalgamate Glam/Glos/Somerset and use each venue. I won't be supporting a Cardiff Southampton or London team.
