I've been following this story with interest as Andy Nash's revelations make concerning reading for fans of 'NTMG' clubs. I wondered in which of the three groups outlined in the story below Glos fall into? Hopefully the last one. Are our finances so bad that we're desperate for the £1.3m payout? I think not being part of the new T20 franchise tournament will be more costly. It's scandalous the west country will not be represented. www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2018/03/28/ecb-review-25m-glamorgan-payment-following-two-resignations/

Not sure if this will answer your question, but the way I see it is, summing up the whole situation is 3 counties ending up voting against the new T20 Kent, Essex, Middlesex but the vote was passed easily. Then the venues were decided Southampton Lords Oval Edgbaston Old Trafford Cardiff, Headingly and Trent Bridge. You could say they are the best 8 grounds, not withstanding locations which I thought most think was the whole idea of it. It would seem not, its the biggest grounds that can hold the most (ok I know its not popular, but its not popular either way)
On a separate issue, in picking the Test Grounds for 2020-2024 There is no Cardiff but there is a rotation with Lords x 2 Oval Edgbaston getting 5 games (Lords 6) with the others Trent Bridge, Headingly and Old Trafford getting 4 out of the 5 games.
The Brightside ground gets 1 x ODI for the period 2020-24
So this 2.5 M that Cardiff are bleating about is the fact they have no Test Matches, who will kick up a fuss well I suppose the 3 rebels but not us. Happy with the ODI so very unlikely they are going to be upsetting the ECB on fixtures.
How much more should the Big 8 get for hosting a francise game?
So its a very complicated calculation that they aren't really going to know if they have got it right or wrong until a couple of years has gone by. They are gambling on the fact ticket sales at the bigger grounds will be higher, and more NEW interest from bigger cities. And also the TV companies around the world can be bothered showing yet another T20 competition, Not sure if India will be that bothered? The idea was (still is long term) to get football grounds involved and get 50k plus through the gate, but I think we all know that is just Cloud Cuckoo land. If there are major ticket flops then there will have to be some money in the kitty to pay off the big 8, but it won't be done like that, they will get a bigger payment (yet to be decided) and told to get on with it, sell as many tickets as you can, good luck.
Just my thoughts on where we are at the moment. Not getting into any deep arguments. But I do find it interesting. (While watching the text match lol)

Somehow think that the OP has used rather economical wording for the heading to this thread. Did they deliberately seemingly miss out 'LACK OF' ?
I concur with the comments made by Paul. We are in no position to voice any opposition to the ECB, fearing losing staging future international matches.. "Thank you kind sirs" ( touching forelock) "We are eternally grateful for any crumbs that you kindly bestow upon us from the top table".
As to the ECB Some people would argue that they have merely followed the classic autocratic tactics of divide and rule. Such as: Firstly, create fear by instigating a swingeing punishment on one of your members (Durham). Secondly, dish out some liberal handouts (bribes). Surprising what a few million here or there can achieve. Add in an occasional vague promise (Somerset). There, keep your potential opponents in the minority to ensure the retention of power. Finally, deal with any outside scrutiny or difficult questions. A potential lawsuit against George Dobell ( Cricinfo) should do the trick.
New T20 Competition When will it eventually dawn on everyone that we simply are not India or Australia. Comments such as "We intend to rival the IPL" are simply complete nonsense to my mind. Where is this supposed large new cricketing audience? Presumably cheap or free tickets and a mega marketing campaign. Read somewhere that the ECB were forecasting a first season loss of £15 million for this new competition. The comments from Andy Nash on resigning from the ECB board should really resonate.
Sorry to be pessimistic, but the future potential for 8 clubs only is a real fear.
