From a quick trawl around, it would seem that the fixtures for next season are being released on 28/29 November. Why over 2 days? Presumably, they will be somewhat following the 2017 release........T20 fixtures released first at 18.00 followed by the remaining fixtures at midnight (if memory serves me right). No idea what purpose the staggered release actually serves.
Will be good to have 4 day fixtures against Middlesex and Warks once again. Warks at the Cheltenham Festival would make logical sense, but we will soon know.

Well, what does everyone make of the fixture list? A few highlights/comments from me: A slightly later Cheltenhan Festival, from Mon 16th July until Fri 27th July. (CCs against Sussex and Durham and T20s against Essex and Glamorgan). Home T20 against Somerset on Fri 13th July. Lord's mid May looks attractive (4 days commencing Fri 11th May). CC - only one fixture against Warks, Durham, Leics and Derbyshire. T20 - only one match against Hants and Surrey (potentially works out well in our favour). Once again, complete absence of latter season weekend cricket. Whilst not entirely perfect, overall not a bad set of fixtures.

Sussex and Durham excellent games for Cheltenham.
Good opportunity to visit Lords and Edgbaston!

Hi New Forum Member and new Glos CC Member for 2018. I am From Cheltenham used to watch Glos in the 70's and last Festival I went to was in 1973. Then I have been all over the place, not able to watch a lot of Live Cricket, but have retired now and back in Chelt (unexpectedly)
Fixtures aren't bad are they, agree two good away games there at Lords and Edgbaston will try and get to both of those for a couple of days at least. The Festival sees us getting 2 x 4 days in July, no other county have got that, I know that usually happens but that must be seen as a bonus as most games are early or late. The Festival starts after the World Cup Final so very happy with that, so it will all be in the School Holidays.
Looking forward to it all now, I will be tweeting on legb4cricket at games if anyone wants to chat. Enjoy the season.

Hi Paul
Warm welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, there are only a few of us who actually bother to post. Accordingly, I very much hope that we can encourage you to be a regular contributor to the forum. Hopefuly, when the season actually starts we can somehow also entice some additional new contributors.
Interesting that your last Cheltenham Festival was back in 1973. This was certainly around one of my favourite eras watching Glos, with Sadiq, Zaheer and the mighty Proc....some memorable and happy days. Also the year of our Gillette Cup victory at Lord's against Sussex. Of course in those days we normally played at Cheltenham in early August.....often seemed to be a number of wasps around at times, which could be an unwelcome nuisance (or were they merely attracted to the beer glasses!!!). Thankfully, the lovely atmosphere of the Festival remains untouched and is certainly the undoubted highlight of the season.

Thanks proscwrongfoot, I think forums in general are a bit of dying breed, but I am happy to read and contribute anyway. 73 was a great time, I was just 15, and joined up the following year aged 16. I didn't go to the final, but remember watching it on TV. Yes always in August so great for the school kids, weren't very many of us used to go in those days though. I used to work in my Dad's shop from 8am until 10am and that would pay my day. I was at the ground at 10.15am soon I was selling scorecards and helping to clean up, so I could easily sit where I wanted to, of course sitting nearest the gate in the members end was my main objective! Just tap Proctor on the arm as he walked in or out, another objective.
The wasps, well you know I would not have remembered them, but you are right they were terrible in August every year. In the shop we would set traps and catch hundreds of them, did they attract more, don't know, but they were pretty nasty if they got inside the fruit. So jam jars it was. Yes and at the Cricket they were pests, and they would turn up as soon as you got your sandwiches out.
I didn't drink beer at the Cricket, but I did once I joined up at 16 I did drink in Tom Graveney's pub in Prestbury quite a lot, my parents had moved out that way in late 73, and so at weekends when I came home I was often in there (in uniform!) and be chatting to dear Tom. Then one day I went in, and said "Tom its my birthday!" Oh how old are you today Paul? "18 Tom" He roared with laughter.
