Neville
Think that we can fairly safely say that Ryan Higgins bowls medium pace. Not Darren Stevens (Kent) type "dibbly dobblers", more like at decent medium pace. Previously, we briefly debated this issue and concluded that his Cricinfo profile incorrectly describes his bowling style.
When Higgins left Middlesex, Gus Fraser openly informed their disappointed members that "He was offered a contract but left because we were unable to guarantee that he would bat in the top 5 in red ball cricket". (On a similar issue, you might remember the debate arising last season when Surrey moaned about losing Dominic Sibley to Warks. It was openly suggested that Sibley had been lured to Warks after receiving promises that he would bat in their top order in all three formats of the game).
The previous thread 'New Signing Rumours' (started end of September) covers some of the previous discussions we had regarding the signing of Ryan.
Your view that a place in our team for the first match of the season should be earnt via pre-season form is both logical and fair. My personal suggestion that we will likely see him bat at 5 is based on my idle speculation and could easily turn out to be well wide of the mark.

Well I right about the Aussie.
I had assumed he was already signed for T20 so a bit of an anti-climax. I suppose I should be used to this as a GCCC follower.

From reading Michael Klinger's press release today it sounds as if he still intends to play for us in T20 this summer.
